Aaron Torres who writes a blog called “Outkick The Coverage – College Football Blog” for FoxSports.com has some harsh words about Rick Pitino today in his article titled “Rick Pitino is the Least Likable Figure in College Sports.”
I am a Denny Crum fan. Not extremely thrilled when Pitino was announced to succeed him, but this article compels me to comment regarding such fair and balanced reporting! From a real professional no less who would never let personal feelings influence the actual truth of a story. If you sniff the odor of sarcasm in that, then you’re more perceptive than your writing would ever showcase. You nailed yourself to the cross and lost all credibility in your first few sentences.
Rick Pitino never comes up on those useless lists, but you don’t like him personally, so you decided to write about it as if he does anyway. You sound more like an ex-girlfriend trying to get even with her boyfriend in the school newspaper than a sportswriter on Fox. I thought perhaps you were simply a fan as UK has so many but, in reality, you are for all practical purposes a grievance outlet, incentivized to bully and silence while wrapping yourself and the rest of The BBN in the cloak of victimhood. 99% of those around me are UK true blue, and I assure you they do not need so insipid a voice like yours to advocate for them.
You simply follow the mob like so many who follow anything that moves hoping to assimilate or in this case, fInd an audience. I suppose I cannot blame you for testing that route. If this article is a typical example of your work, it is clear you will never make it on talent or ability or even originality. You have my pity that you fail so miserably at what you aspire to be. One more thing about a list of the most “unlikeables”. I can think of nothing more useless to write about than this silly, Tiger Beat type topic.
Seriously, are you in the 8th grade? Perhaps you could have added a checkbox asking, “Do you like Rick? Check one, yes or no.” These men that you write of, Nick Saban, John Calipari, Lane Kiffin, etc. couldn’t care less if you like them. They don’t care if the fans like them. And if they do get fired then they’ll take their millions of dollars and go home to their mansions and live a life of luxury and financial largess you will never know.
Those unlikeable losers. They are successful in their chosen life, unlike anything you’ve probably experienced in your professional career. I can guarantee Rick Pitino will waste no thought on what Aaron Torres thinks or writes about unlike you who seem to obsess on his every movement. Your hatred is a tribute to his success. Congratulations to all of you for the immense assistance you have rendered transforming him into an icon. That is if anyone cares what you think but I cannot imagine why.
