While working in the valley station area, my husband and I decided to break for lunch, at our favorite little cafe. Christi’s Cafe located at 12810 Dixie Hwy Louisville Ky, 40272.
We pulled into the gravel parking lot; this was fine because we were in our rehab house work clothing. Had we been dressed up for an evening out, the gravel dust might have been an issue.
I love walking into Christi’s Cafe; you immediately feel like you have stepped into a different era. Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn portraits displayed proudly. The pink and black painted walls compliments the fifties look most definitely.
The waitress greeted us immediately upon arriving and said for us, to sit anywhere we like. She was friendly and asked if we had dined with them before. I let her know we are regulars, the waitress took our drink orders and excused herself; while we looked over the menu.
The Menu was very easy to read, with choices ranging from an “All Day Breakfast.” Including favorites such as Christi’s Hotcakes, priced reasonably at $2.99 for a short stack. Egg and Omelette platters range
from $4.49-$6.99
Their Biscuits and Gravy is something to consider for only $3.49 for a full order or $2.49 for half an order. My husband and I decided to go with the lunch option.
Lunch choices ranged from, our personal favorites, salmon patties and bean soup with cornbread. Christi’s Homemade Chili was a close second option for me. If you’re brave enough or just up for the challenge, you can attempt the ” Big Dixie Burger Challenge”, three pounds of burger with fries. If you can finish it off, you win a free Big Dixie T-Shirt!
The big burger priced at $21.99 plus $2.50 for fries and a drink to complete the meal. My husband wasn’t up for the challenge, so he settled on the Salmon Patties, which he loved. I chose the all-time favorite, a bowl of bean soup and corn bread.
Our experience and the service was excellent as always; we will continue to be regulars at our favorite little diner, Christi’s Cafe.
