CBS Sports is reporting that JaQuan Lyle confirmed the gist of allegations involving paid escorts.
They say,
“Ohio State freshman JaQuan Lyle spoke with an NCAA investigator this week about his recruiting visit to Louisville in June 2013 and confirmed the gist of allegations involving paid escorts during his trip to the school, a source of knowledge of the NCAA’s investigation told CBS Sports on Thursday morning.”
In the Powell book published last Friday night called “Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen.” In it, Katina Powell, a self-described madam, Powell wrote.
“I took Rod-Ni, TooTall, Jazmine and Shay, who calls herself Sammi,” Powell wrote in a journal entry. “TooTall made $100, Shay made $100, and Jazzy made nothing because she did absolutely nothing.”
Lyle said he was going to play for the Louisville Cardinals just a few weeks after his visit here, but later de-committed. He then said he would play at Oregon, but again that was not the truth, he ultimately landed at Ohio State.
The NCAA also interviewed former Louisville recruit Antonio Blakeney, who now plays at LSU. What Antonio Blakeney told the NCAA during the interview remains a mystery.
When asked if the NCAA’s investigators had requested to interview Rodney Purvis, A University of Connecticut spokesman declined to comment. Rodney Purvis, who also said he would play for Louisville, only to go elsewhere, is also mentioned in Powell’s book, but the author claims Purvis did not take part in the alleged activities.
