The Louisville Cardinals are now a top 10 team, thanks to their dual-threat quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jackson won the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week award for the second straight week, thanks to his record-setting performance against the Syracuse Orange on Sunday.
The sophomore only played the first half in Louisville’s season-opener over Charlotte, Jackson had a total of 405 yards (286 passing, 119 rushing) and 8 (6 passing, 2 rushing) touchdowns as Louisville won 70-14. He continued his run Friday night at Syracuse, getting a total of 483 yards (344 passing, 139 rushing) and 5 touchdowns (1 passing, 4 rushing) in the first half.
The Louisville Cardinals return to the Top 10 this week. Louisville’s last Top 10 ranking was on Oct. 12, 2013. Louisville’s first ever Top 10 ranking in the AP poll was on Nov. 14, 2004. This week’s ranking marks the 26th time Louisville has been in the Top 10 of the AP poll.
